Jacqueline Corrine Caldwell came into this world with the nick name Fat Baby, on August 12, 1947. She was born in Guthrie, OK, the second child of eight, to Ruth Marie (Childs) Owens and Salvador Owens. Jacqueline spent the early years of her life in Guthrie and started school in Guthrie at Paige Elementary School. The family later moved to Oklahoma City and she attended school at Dunbar Elementary. The family moved to Dover, OK. Jacqueline was the protector in her family and was known at the school for taking up for her brothers and sisters, as she was known to put the smack down from time to time. Jacqueline enjoyed, Choir and Home EC classes in school. She was always proud of her good grades in school and was proud of her A’s. She played basketball a few years, and met and fell in love with the game and her high school sweetheart in Dover. Jacqueline married her sweetheart, Henry Caldwell, August 25th, 1965, after she graduated high school. Jacqueline has always loved going out to eat cheeseburgers with Henry. Jacqueline worked part time when she and Henry moved to Enid. She worked for a short time at Bell’s Jewelers, and at a laundry, but she babysat children most of the time. Henry and Jackie moved to Hartford, Connecticut for three months while Henry attended technical school for NCR. They were then transferred to Denver, Colorado, and there, they welcomed the birth of their son Terry. She was a homemaker, and she loved cooking and baking homemade breads and desserts. She was also a seamstress, and made just about anything you could imagine. They moved back to Enid, OK, after Terry was just a few months old, where Henry was employed with NCR as a Senior Technician. Jackie continued being a homemaker and caring for her son. Her nickname changed to Party as she loved to dance and was the life of the party. Henry and Jackie had their daughter Jamie in Enid, OK. Jackie worked at State School in Enid, even after the family moved back to Dover. NCR transferred Henry to Lawton, OK, where Jacqueline just enjoyed being a homemaker and taking care of her children. She did some substitute teaching from time to time. She continued to make clothes for her children and even entered some of her work in fashion shows. She loved listening to The Commodores- Brick House, dancing around the house as she cooked and cleaned. The family moved to Clinton where they made a permanent home. Jacqueline continued to stay at home with her children until Jamie was old enough to come home from school alone. She began working at Clinton Laundry and Cleaners, then later started working at Clinton Regional Hospital. She was excited when she was promoted to Medical Records and she took college courses at SWOSU to become certified in Medical Terminology. She reluctantly had to retire early due to complications with her MS. Jacqueline was very loving and took the time to be involved in all of her children’s sports and activities. She was a normal face even at her daughter’s college basketball games, travelling to several states to attend games. She loved travelling and seeing new cities. Jackie loved OU Football as well. Her sisters jokingly said she got so excited at Jamie’s games and watching OU, that she had several strokes. She has called her children’s friends her own, and always had love for them. Jackie has also been closely involved in her grandchildren’s activities and loved them deeply. Jackie was always closely involved in many community projects with her husband to improve the community and assist the youth.
