J.C. Walker

A Funeral Service for J.C. Walker, 89, former Clinton resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Friday, August 15, 2014 in the New Hope Baptist Church in El Reno, Ok officiated by Pastor Dick Kurtz. There will be a private family burial in the Arapaho Cemetery in Arapaho, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. J.C. Walker was born January 18, 1925 to Joseph M. and Maudie Mae (Stephens) Walker in Cordell, OK and passed away Saturday, August 9, 2014 in Mercy Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Mr. Walker was raised and attended school in the Clinton and Stafford area. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943 serving in WWII. He traveled extensively and was always proud of the fact that he crossed over the Equator twice. He was honorably discharged March of 1946. He married Norma Jean Newton in October 24, 1948 in Cordell, Oklahoma and they made their home in Waxahachie, TX where he attended preaching school. They moved back to Oklahoma and settled in Oklahoma City where he preached and he was employed with Federal Aviation Association and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation where he retired in 1988. He and his wife moved to Clinton and ministered at the Indian Pentecostal Church at 18th and Hayes. They moved back to Oklahoma City in 1993. He is a member of the Pentecostal Church of God in Oklahoma City. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Jarell Curtis Walker, a sister, Betty Kingore, and three brothers, L.D. Walker, Chuck Walker and Raymond Walker. He is survived by a daughter, Linda Baker, of Yukon, OK and a son Terry Walker, of Meridian , OK; the mother of his children, Norma Walker, of Lawton, OK, a sister, Jean Wallace, El Reno, OK. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Dedra Baker, Yukon, James Walker, Tulsa and Michelle Locke, OKC, OK and two great-grandchildren, Korban Smith and wife, Morgan, El Reno, OK and Kammie Baker, Yukon, OK and great-great-grandchild Bentley Smith.
