Jeri (Dumas) Wilson was born on February 8, 1934 in Weatherford, OK to Minnie and Albert Dumas. She died peacefully on February 3rd, 2023 with her loving family at her side.
Jeri spent her early years in Weatherford, Oklahoma studying and developing her love for painting. She graduated from Weatherford High School and attended SWOSU. Jeri began dating the love of her life, Richard Gene Wilson, in the Fall of 1951. They were married July 27, 1952, beginning their journey of deep abiding love and devotion for 67 years. Theirs was a love that was admired and set the standard for all relationships. They spent their lives in service to the Lord at First Baptist Church Clinton, Oklahoma. Jeri also enjoyed teaching art lessons to many students in her home art studio.
Jeri & R.G. enjoyed many adventures together which included traveling in their motorhome, boating, playing bridge and entertaining friends and family. Jeri enjoyed cooking and was always a gracious hostess and the life of every party. Jeri taught her children and grandchildren the beauty of family and the power of love.
It goes without saying that if the Oklahoma Sooners were playing football, Jeri would be watching and cheering on her beloved OU Sooners. Jeri was active in the Allied Arts Council in Clinton and in PEO Chapters FR (Clinton) and CH (Bartlesville). She was also honored to be a “Widow of Might” for her current pastor at FBC Bartlesville, Oklahoma where the couple moved when R.G.’s health declined. Although the couple moved in 2018 to be closer to family, they still considered Clinton, Oklahoma as their home. Towards the end of her life, Jeri claimed the promise to be absent from her body meant to be present with the Lord. She knew she would be reunited with those loved ones that preceded her in death.
Jeri is preceded in death by her parents, seven siblings, a son-in-law David Lorenson, and her beloved husband, R.G. Wilson. She is survived by two daughters, Jeretta (Bill) Amburn of Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Suzy Lorenson of Tucson, Arizona. She also leaves behind four grandchildren, Julianne (Jason) Lillie of Claremore, OK, Tyler (Lauren) Wilson of Moore, OK, Ryan (Sarah) Rainbolt of India and Ashley (Matt) McMains of Moore, OK. Jeri is also survived by 10 great grandchildren, Jaycie & Jett Lillie of Claremore, OK; Kate & Madelyn Wilson of Moore, OK; Josiah, Daniel, and Abby Rainbolt of India; and John Paul, Elliana, and Tabitha McMains of Moore, OK. She is also survived by numerous nephews, nieces, and many friends who loved and admired her.
