Military Honors and Graveside Services for Jimmie Ray Boggs, 85, Weatherford resident and formerly of Charlevoix, MI will be held Tuesday October 18, 2022, at 9:30 A.M. in the National Memorial Cemetery of Arizona, Phoenix, AZ, officiated by Rev. Steve and under the direction of the Regency Mortuary in Sun City, AZ.
Jimmie Ray Boggs was born December 11, 1936, to Iris Lest Boggs and Ethel May (Fisher) Boggs in Jenks, Oklahoma and passed away Sunday, October 9, 2022, in the Brookdale Assisted Living Center in Weatherford, OK.
Jimmie started his young life in Sand Springs, OK and his family moved to Los Gastos, CA where he graduated from high school in 1954. While in high school he was the pitcher on the varsity baseball team. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1958 and served during the Korean War and served a stint in Anchorage, AK.
He married Laveda Taylor on July 6, 1958, In California. They made their home Charlevoix, Michigan where he got in the Bakery business owning and operating a family business. He moved to Albuquerque, NM and started a career with Civil Service (AAFES) and worked in Germany, Panama and Japan.
He was a member of the First Church of God in Charlevoix, MI. He enjoyed sports and especially baseball.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Jack and sister, Connie.
He is survived by daughter, Tammy Deela and husband, Robert, Thomas, OK and son Jimmy Boggs, Phoenix, AZ.
E is also survived by granddaughter, Laykin Meyer and husband, Jack and two great grandchildren, Ava Meyer and Everett Meyer, all of Perryton, TX.
