Funeral Services for Joel Gossen, 73, life long prominent Corn resident, will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 2, 2013 in the Mennonite Brethren Church in Corn, OK, officiated by Rev. Tim Sandy and Rev. Ken Gardner. Burial will conclude in the Corn Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Joel Gossen was born July 9, 1939 to J.C. Gossen and Anna (Vogt) Gossen in Corn, Oklahoma and passed away Saturday, December 29, 2012 in the Corn Heritage Village in Corn, Oklahoma. Mr. Gossen attended Corn Public Schools and later transferred to Corn Bible Academy to finish his high school career and graduating in 1957. He continued his education at Tabor College in Hillsboro, KS where he met and soon married Miss Wilma L. Hagen on November 8, 1958. The young couple made their first home in Denver, Colorado. Mr. Gossen’s father passed away and they moved back to Corn, Oklahoma to help his mother on the farm. He continued working the family farm raising cattle and wheat. He also owned and operated the Corn Implement Dealership. He sold tractors from 1958 till 1998, but he continued to sell other farm equipments until 2007. He was a longtime faithful and active member of the Mennonite Brethren Church, where he served in numerous capacities’s, including, serving as a Sunday school teacher and served on the board of trustees. He served as chairman of the board during the new church building project. He was active in the Corn Community where he served as town mayor for over 22 years. He was considered a great boss to his employees and served on the Case Dealership Council and the Ford Dealership Council. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Sam and (two where infants) Willard and Jacob, Jr. and two sisters, Edna Duerksen and her husband, John and Annie Lee Graf and her husband, Rhiney, another brother in law, Francis Sallaska and an infant granddaughter, Kelsey Goosen. He is survived by his wife, Wilma of the home, three sons, Bryan Gossen and wife, Reonna, and Bart and wife, Geri, all of Corn and Scot Gossen and wife, Lori, Yukon, OK, five grandchildren, Megan Gossen, Cayden Gossen, Katelyn Gossen, Cassidy Gossen and Harley Gossen. He is also survived by a sister, Miriam Sallaska, and a brother, Jacob Gossen and wife, Ella Jane and a sister in law, Naemi Gossen, all of Corn. The family has suggested those wishing to give a memorial contribution may do so to the Corn Bible Academy or the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church. The family will greet guest from 6:00 P.M., till 7:30 P.M., Tuesday, January 1, 2013.
