MEMORIAL SERVICE FOR JOHN DALE GURLEY A memorial service for John Dale Gurley will take place on Friday, October 19, 2018. Friends and relatives are invited to meet at the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home at 10:00 a.m. There will be a short drive to a location West of Clinton at which time a brief memorial service shall be held. John Dale Gurley was born June 30, 1948, grew up in Clinton, Oklahoma, and graduated from Clinton High School in May of 1966. He was the son of John W. Gurley and his wife, Audrey Ann (Williams) Gurley. John Dale graduated from Southwestern Oklahoma State University of Weatherford, Oklahoma, on May 29, 1970, with a bachelors degree in Music Education and subsequently graduated from Northeastern Oklahoma State University in Talequah, Oklahoma, on July 31, 1979, with a Masters of Education degree in guidance and counseling. John Dale had many personal and professional interests in his life. After graduation from Southwestern he served as Musical Director in several Oklahoma high schools including Bixby, Muskogee and Cherokee Public Schools. After obtaining his counseling degree he served as a Guidance Counselor at Kingfisher Public Schools. He later served as a coordinator of behavioral disorder services and as the staff psychologist with the area mental health center in Garden City, Kansas. He was a vocational counselor at Canadian Valley Area Vo-Tech school in El Reno and was an outpatient alcohol and drug therapist at the Wheatland Mental Health Center in Enid, Oklahoma. Following his career in community mental health, John Dale worked in providing computer consulting services and developing data base management techniques for a variety of health service agencies. John Dale Gurley died on January 31, 2018, a resident of Weatherford, Oklahoma. He was pre-deceased by his parents and one brother, Wayne Weson Gurley, and is survived by a nephew, Wayne Weson Gurley, Jr., of Bainbridge Island, Washington, and two nieces, Jean Ann Mason-Hedges, of Lebanon, Indiana and Heather Susan Gillespie, of Lebanon, Indiana.
