Funeral Services for John E. Russell, 87, Clinton resident will be held 1:00 P.M. Friday, March 28, 2014 in the Meacham Memorial Chapel of the First Baptist Church, officiated by Doug Lewis and burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. John E. Russell was born October 16, 1926 to John E. and Pearl (Roberts) Russell in Montgomery, AL and passed away Sunday, March 23, 2014 in the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. John was raised in Houston, TX where he graduated from High School. He continued his education at Rice University in Houston before enlisting in the U.S. Navy in 1944. He served during WWII and received an honorable discharge in 1946 with the rank of Seaman First Class. He was married to Dorothy M. Allen on August 13, 1948 in Bellville, TX. He was employed in the oilfields and the family moved and traveled extensively, however he spent a number years in the Bastrop, TX area. He moved to Clinton in 1999. He attended the First Baptist Church. He is preceded in death by his wife in July of 2013; his parents;two sisters, Rebecca Brummett and Billie Eaton. He is survived by two sons, John A. Russell and his wife, Janelle, Clinton and Tim Russell and his wife, Cathy, Bixby, OK. He is also survived by six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
