Funeral Services for Johnny Bearshield, 65, former Clinton resident and presently of Lawton will be held 10:00 A.M., Monday, December 31, 2012 in the Church of God Light House in Lawton, OK, officiated by Minister Dan Caldwell and others. There will be a traditional all night wake service Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in the Clinton Indian Community Center and a 10:00 A.M., Funeral Service Wednesday January 2, 2013 in the Clinton Community Center, officiated by Pastor Delbert Hughes and others. Burial will conclude in the Clinton Indian Cemetery under the direction of the Stanley-Lee Funeral Home. There will be a traditional all night wake service Tuesday, January 1, 2013 in the Clinton Indian Community Center and a 10:00 A.M Johnny Bearshield (Indian Name: Heboee-Tase “Whirl Wind”) was born October 26, 1947 to John Blackhawk Bearshield and Ruth Elsie (Bearbow) Bearshield in Clinton, OK and passed away Thursday, December 27, 2012 in his Lawton home. Johnny is a descendent of the late Chief Redmoon, who was his great-grandfather. Johnny was raised in Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1966. He was married to Mona Doyebi on April 15, 1969 in Hulbert, OK. Johnny gave his heart to the Lord in 1970 and his began his ministry with love and dedication to the Lord. His staff and shield was his Bible and guitar. He became a mighty warrior for the Christ. He had worked for Cork Herrarld Fencing from 1969 until 1971 and also in 1971 he was working in the oil fields laying pipe lines. 1n 1974, Johnny drove a school bus for the New Indian School that was started northeast of Hammon, OK. In the spring of 1974 he pastured the Clinton Pentecostal Indian Mission. During that time he served as Youth President and Fellowship Coordinator, which served six churches and he pastored until 1981. In 1979-1981 he worked as Assistant Deputy Director for the Cheyenne/Arapaho Housing Authority. In 1982 he worked for the Housing Authority as Housing Inspector. In 1983 he dedicated his full time to the gospel ministry, playing the guitar, writing songs, and singing. His dedication and love for God spoke many volumes from the Southern States into Northern Canada Territories, including Quebec and all places in between. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, John Bearshield, five sisters, Ruby Bearshield, Marjorie Bearshield, Victoria Sweetwater, Geraldine Adachi and Sabina Bates, and three brothers, Sylvester Bearshield, Russell Bearshield and Calvin Bearshield. He is a member of the Church of God Light House in Lawton, OK, he loved to sing and play the guitar and he had a passion of working with his Native American people. He is survived by his wife, Mona, of the home, two daughters, Annie Hunter-Bearshield and husband, Jack Hunter-Bearshield and Marie “Peanut” Hector Posada all of Lawton. He is also survived by nine grandchildren, Alex Stands, Scottsbluff, NE, Dakota Bearshield, Jordan Bearshield, Tristen Bearshield, Joshua Bearshield, Anjeni Posada, Isaac Posada, Moriah Hunter-Bearshield and Maddison Hunter-Bearshield, all of Lawton
