Funeral services for Johnny C. Funk, 88, lifelong Corn resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, December 20, 2014 in the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church officiated by Rev. Tim Sandy and Rev. Ken Gardner. Burial will conclude in the Mennonite Brethren Corn Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Johnny Calvin Funk was born December 12, 1926 to Cornelius and Lydia (Schmidt) Funk in Corn, OK and passed away Tuesday, December 16, 2014 in the Corn Heritage Village in Corn, OK. John was raised on a farm in Washita County near Corn, OK. He attended Greenfield Country School before going to Corn Bible Academy where he graduated in 1945. He was married to Viola Elizabeth Fast on August 22, 1954 near Hooker, OK. He has spent most of his life farming and doing carpentry work. In his early years he would spend time working in the panhandle of Oklahoma doing farm labor for others. He was a longtime active and faithful member of the Mennonite Brethren Church; he was a lay pastor and pastored for 25 years at the Gotebo Community Church. He was preceded in death by his parent's, four sisters, Leona Funk, Erna Funk and Adina Dalke and Annie Funk and two brothers, Cornelius Frank and Orlando Funk. He is survived by his wife of over 60 years, Viola, of the home, two daughters, Martha Archuleta and husband William, of Salt Lake City, Utah and Lillian Martens and husband, David, of Hillsboro, Kansas and two sons, Calvin Funk and wife, Pam, of Weatherford and Charles Funk, of Corn, OK; two brothers, Paul Funk and wife, Rosella, of Inman, KS, and Dannie Funk, of Olathe, Kansas and a sister in law Rose Funk-Epp, of Buhler, Kansas. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Colby Funk and his wife, Jamee, of Whitewater, KS, Erin Funk, of Weatherford, OK, Ryan Martens, of Ryan Martens, of Fresno, CA, Kristen Martens and Shannon Martens both of Hillsboro, KS, Autumn Archuleta and Tristen Archuleta, both of Salt Lake City, Utah and great grandson, Landon Funk of Whitewater, KS.
