Funeral Services for Jon B. Cabaniss, 75, Clinton resident will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, 4, 2014 in the First Christian Church, officiated by Doyle Kinney and burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Jon Buford Cabaniss was born December 16, 1938 to Buford and Zella Mae (Tackitt) Cabaniss in Clinton, Oklahoma and passed away Sunday December 29, 2013 in Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City. Jon was raised in the Clinton area and he was baptized on March 21, 1954 in the First Christian Church. He graduated from Arapaho High School in 1957. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in December of 1961 and served in the Viet Nam War. After his honorable discharge he returned to Oklahoma and he soon married Miss Corene Dix June 4, 1966 in Lawton, OK. They made their home in Lawton where he worked for Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. He later became self employed as a telecommunications contractor and worked all over the United States and traveled extensively. He retired in 2004 and settled in Clinton. He was a long time member of the First Christian Church and had also attended the First Church of God. He enjoyed restoring old guns as well as old tractors. He loved to farm and raise a big garden and his passion was spending time with his grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Corene, of the home, two daughters, Cathy Woodard and husband, Rick, of Leedey, OK and Cindy Savoie and husband, Jody, of Clinton, four sons, Bryan Cabaniss and Jeffery Cabaniss and wife, Susan, both of Cape Girardeau, MO and Steve Cabaniss, of Arapaho, OK and Jason Cabaniss, of the home; brother, Wesley Cabaniss and wife, Kay, Clinton and a sister, Linda Berrong and husband, Eddie, of Weatherford, OK and his mother in law, Lois Dix, of Pauls-Valley, OK. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren, Christopher Cabaniss, Jennifer Mayjoffo, Ryanne Woodward, Randi Woodard, T.J. Savoie, Caleb Savoie, Nate Savoie and Jaylynn Cabaniss and four great-grandchildren, Damian Cabaniss, Domnick Cabaniss, Kaden Ryan and Kenadi Ryan.
