Funeral Services for Joseph Allen Davis, 80, Clinton resident will be held 10:00 A.M. Tuesday, July 19, 2016 in The First Mennonite, officiated by Rev. Billy Mucker and Pastor Daniel Mosburg. Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Joseph Allen Davis was born December 28th, 1935 in Rosedale, OK to Samuel Colbert Davis Jr. and Gladys Raynita (Elledge) Davis and passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 in his Clinton home. The family moved from Rosedale to Norman, OK at the beginning of Joe's junior year; which is where he spent that school year of 1952 - 1953. The family then moved to Wayne, OK his senior year, the school year of 1953 - 1954. He graduated from Wayne High School in May of 1954. He met his wife JoAnn Craig of Wayne, OK and they married February 29th, 1956. They ran off to be married in Gainesville, Texas and were gone for two weeks without letting anyone know of their whereabouts. When they came back a wedding reception was held for them. They celebrated their 60th anniversary this year. There first three children were born in Purcell's McCurdy Hospital. Purcell is the town just north of Wayne. They moved to Oklahoma City where Joe got a job working at the Gilt Edge Dairy Farms as route Milk Man. In those days the Milk Man came to your house to deliver dairy products. They had their fourth child in Oklahoma City. At the end of 1964 they moved to Weatherford, OK and then six months later on to Clinton, OK. They arrived in Clinton on July 4th, 1965 and set up a home in a two story house in Neptune Park. They lived there for 11 years and then moved in town April 1976. When he moved to Clinton he had been promoted to being the area route manager for Gilt Edge Farms; to supervise the other Milk Men and worked a route. The fifth child arrived in 1966. During his lifetime he was a Milk Man, ran a pig farm for several years, owned a Texaco Station, Worked for Zip Tool in Weatherford, Smith Oil company, Dave's Stop and Shop, farming and ranching for son Tim, sold Insurance, sold used cars, and made special knives with engraving. In his later years he loved to babysit grandchildren, making special knives (with engraving that would include a veteran's military service dates), and sent care packages to a nephew serving in the war and taking care of his horses. He has always had and took care of horses no matter what. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge. Joe was preceded in death by his parents and his brother James Davis, Sister Doris Davis and one grandchild Dustin Shepherd and one great grandchild Danica Blood. He is survived by his wife JoAnn, a sister Sammy Villines of Weatherford, and a brother Paul Davis of Purcell; five children, a daughter Cindy Ousley and husband Roger of Custer City, a son Tim Davis and wife Kathleen of Arapaho, a daughter Jane Nickel and husband Eugene of Clinton, a daughter Tammy Shepherd and husband Allen of Arapaho, and a son Joe Shane Davis of Clinton; thirteen grandchildren; Melissa Haught and husband Jon of Rio Rancho, New Mexico ;Jennifer Pitzer of Hydro; Matthew Ousley and wife Morgan of Enid; Sabrina Krone and husband Thomas of Jones; Adrienne Sewell and husband Berry of Clinton; Jake Davis and wife Diana of Clinton; Gene Nickel and wife Stacie of Clinton;Dr. Daniel Shepherd and wife Kaci of Vidalia, Georgia; Mindy Moore and husband Caleb of Clinton: Elizabeth Shepherd of Arapaho; Seirra Barnette and husband Adam of Clinton; Devin Davis and wife Malia of Clinton; and twenty greatgrandchildren, McKinsey, Cory, and Carlie Haught; Taylor Pitzer: Olivia Ousley; Thomas, Tyler and Shelby Krone; Andrew and Luke Sewell; Decker and Slade Davis; James Carter, Judd and Selbi Shepherd; Tinley and Dustin Moore; Lucy and Ben Barnette; Lennon Joe Davis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews; and two special care givers, Pat Serratt and Lori Flores, both of Clinton. The family has suggested those want to give memorial contributions may do so to the Shepherd Home Health and Hospice, 525 South 30th Clinton, OK 73601. He will greatly missed by his family and friends.
