Funeral Services for Joseph W. Belknap, 85, Clinton resident will be held 2:00 P.M., Wednesday, April 8, 2015 in the Trinity Lutheran Church, officiated by. tammy Evans and Jeff McDowell. Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Joseph was born August 4, 1929 to Floyd and Gertrude (alexander) Belknap in Hobart, Oklahoma and passed away Friday, April 3, 2015 in his Clinton home. He was raised in Hobart and moved to Clinton when he was about 10 years old. He graduated from Clinton High School. He was married to Volina Mae Mueller on June 19, 1949 in Clinton. He was drafted in the United State Army in 1952 on his 23 birthday August 4, 1952 and served in the Korean Conflict; he received his honorable discharge in July of 1954. He had worked for Nash Finch, Piggly Wiggly and Safeway Stores before entering the military. Returning to Oklahoma and settling back in Clinton, he worked for the Clinton Packing Plant as a meat cutter for several years and then he worked for Dolese and retired in 1995. He was preceded in death by his wife, a daughter, Deborah Ann in 1952; a granddaughter, Sarah Shea Bowman and a grandson, Bryan Bradley Bowman; brothers and sisters Herschel Belknap, Thelma Bishop, Loretta Douglas, Audrey Stewart, Ina Nell Belknap, Charles Belknap and Kathleen Moore-Wilson. He was a longtime member of the Trinity Lutheran Church and was baptized on June 12, 1949, he enjoyed woodworking, bird watching, his dogs and he read the Bible faithfully. He is survived by two daughters, Brenda Butler, and Karen Bowman and husband, Frank, both of Clinton and Bret Belknap and his wife, Rennie, of Arapaho; sister, Dorothy Gabler, of Clinton and two sisters-in-law, Kathleen Lucus and husband, Dwight, of Clinton and Florence O'Hara and husband, Max of El; Reno; brother in law, Bob Wilson, of Perry, OK. He is also survived by grandchildren, Stuart Butler and Jonathan Myer, Matthew Butler, Adrieane Bowman, Melita Bowman and Cody Grandstaff, Valissa Bowman, Sarah Belknap and Maxton Andrus, E.J. Belknap, and great-grandchildren, Ryan Bowman, Cole Bowman, Frank Bowman, Meleana Nolin, Blake Nolin and one great grandchild on the way, Kadene Louann Grandstaff. The family will greet guest 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at the family home 414 South 16th Clinton, OK.
