Joyce grew up in the Corn area being the youngest of seven children, having 5 brothers and 1 sister. She attended Springfield school and later graduated from Corn High School in 1954. During her high school years, she participated in softball and basketball at Corn High School. Some of her fondest memories were of being a 4 year letterman on the basketball team. Her only complaint came during her freshman year, when she thought she should be a started and have increased playtime, but since her brother was her coach that didn't happen. She said in the confines of her home when she confronted her brother, the coach, he did actually agree with her but because she was an underclassman he told her that he couldn't start her and keep peace on the team. On September 5, 1954, she married Jim Hinz on the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church. She was baptized in the Bergthal Church on September 27, 1959. After she and Jim married they lived in the Liberal, Kansas area for a short while before returning to the Corn area to begin a career in farming. They soon began an auction business which has become known as the Hinz Auctioneers. To this marriage 3 children we born Debra Gaye (Debbie) Hinz Zahorsky, Jimmie Dale Hinz, and Terri Dawn Hinz Weichel During her adult life, Joyce worked hard to help manage the family business being present at most every auction. On any given day you may find her taking a meal to the wheat field, working at one of the auctions, enjoying a game of gold, cooking or baking, driving many miles to watch a grandchild playing a sports game, or dropping everything to play a game of Old Maid with the grandkids. Joyce is survived by her husband Jim, her children, Debbie and her husband Steve Zahorsky of Weatherford, Jimmie Hinz and wife Nancy of Corn, and Terri and her husband Tom Weichel of Lucas, TX, Grandchildren Kyle Zahorsky and wife Meredith of Flower Mound, TX, Taylor Zahorsky Forester and husband David of Norman, OK, Brandon Hinz and wife Lexi of Weatherford, OK, Courtney Hinz Bryan and husband Dewrell also of Weatherford, OK, John Weichel, Emilly Weichel, Lizzie Weichel, and Annie Weichel all of Lucus, TX.
