Laverle Miller

Funeral Services for LaVerle Miller, 79, rural Arapaho resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, June 20, 2012 in the First Church of God, officiated by Rev. Roy Dobbs and burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Helen LaVerle (Newcomb) Miller was born April 29, 1933 to Ralph B. and Edythe Elizabeth (Poarch) Newcomb in Clinton, OK and passed away Saturday, June 16, 2012 in Clinton. LaVerle was raised on the family farm in the Red Rock Community east of Clinton and graduated from Clinton High School in 1951. She continued her education at Southwestern State College in Weatherford, OK. She was married to Buddy Lester Miller on April 29, 1954 in Clinton and graduated from College the following year in 1955. They made their home on the Miller Farm in Rural Arapaho. Early in their marriage LaVerle worked for Bill Gover Ford as a bookkeeper for several years. They farmed and raised cattle together until Buddy’s death in 1997. She continued to farm until her death. She was a longtime and faithful member of the First Church of God and she enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and being with her family. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Ralph and Edythe Newcomb, her father and mother in law, Pete and Lena Miller, sister in law, Iris Jean Baumwart, brothers in law, Otis Little and Cliff Camden. She is survived by a daughter, Debbie Matz and husband, Perry, Clinton, two sons, Kirk Miller, Arapaho and Kent Miller and wife, Valerie, Clinton, sister, Oleta Camden, Clinton, brothers, Robert Newcomb and wife, Nancy, Elk City, Raymond Newcomb and wife, Sharon, Atlanta, GA and Carlos Newcomb and wife, Ann, Clinton; sister in law, Emma Lou Little-Vogt, and brother in law, Elvis Baumwart, both of Clinton. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Kasi Westfahl, and husband, Erick, Yukon, OK, Jaclyn Christensen and husband, Trey, Oklahoma City, OK, Derek Matz and wife, Kyla, Clinton, Kelsey Merz and husband, Kelby, Elk City, OK, Kolby Miller, Willow, OK, Mason and Garrison Miller, Clinton, OK; and two Great Grand Children, Collin Westfahl and Kendall Matz. The family has suggested those wishing to give memorial contributions may do so to the Arapaho Alumni Association for scholarships, Box 182, Arapaho, OK 73620.
