A Chapel Service for Letha Dupree, 92, Custer County resident will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, February 21, 2015 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel officiated by Rev. Dale Nease. Burial will conclude in the Butler Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Letha Elgbry (Roper) Dupree was born August 17, 1922 to Yewell Washington Roper and Mattie Lena (Odell) Roper in Martha, Oklahoma and passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015 in the Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton, OK. Letha was raised in Martha, OK until she finished her 4th grade and then moved to Butler with her family. She continued her schooling in Butler. She married Isaac Anderson "I.A."Dupree on December 13, 1939 in Butler, OK. They made their new home on the Byfield farm that joined Mr. Dupree's family property north of Butler. They moved to California for a short time and in 1950 the Dupree's moved back to the family farm in Butler. Mr. Dupree traveled with his job and they made their homes all over Oklahoma but settled in Clinton in 1992. Mr. Dupree preceded her in death on December 25, 1996. She has continued to live in Clinton until the present. She was a member of the Custer Ave. Baptist Church and had taught Sunday school and Bible School Class for over 50 years. She volunteered at the Mission Ware It Again Store for several years; she enjoyed cooking, quilting and needle work and was a member of the Antioch Sewing Club; she had a passion for art and enjoyed painting. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Nelta Fern Evans and a son, James Dupree and five brothers, Vaundle, Elvin, Jay T., A.W. and Ludon Roper and two sisters, Oneeda Glasscock and Artie Fay Smith. She is survived by a son, Darrell Dupree and his wife, Marva, of Butler, daughter in law, Janice Dupree of Clinton and son in law, Stanley Evans, of Lahoma, OK; sister, Nada Baker, of Butler and a brother, Vernon Roper, Foss Lake Estates. She is also survived by 8 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great-grandchildren. The family has suggested those wanting to give a memorial contribution may do so to the Western Oklahoma Hospice or the Butler Baptists Church.
