Funeral Services for Lewis V. Smith, 91, Clinton resident will be held 11:00 A.m., Monday, June 8, 2020 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Bro Joe Jefferson. Burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Lewis Van Smith was born February 16, 1929 to David Smith and Grace (Turner) Smith in Bristow, Oklahoma and passed away Tuesday, June 2, 2020 in the Integris Hospice House in Oklahoma City, OK. Lewis was raised in Bristow, OK where he also attended school. He enlisted in the U.S. Army on February 28, 1951 and served in Korea. He was honorably discharged February 19, 1953. He made his home in Clinton in 1956 and began a career with Milchem as a truck Driver. He retired from Milchem after 25 years of service. He was married to Josephine Collins in 1958 in Clinton, OK and she preceded him in death. He later married Lois L. Benford in 1993 in Wheeler, TX and she also proceeded him in death. He was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church; the Masonic Lodge21, the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion; he enjoyed playing cards, dominos and going to the Casino. He is also preceded in death by his parents, sons, El Roy Smith, Albert Bolden, sisters, Marie Kirkendoll, Lucille Hubbard and Viola Jackson; brother, Virgil Smith, Sr.; nephews, Virgil Smith, Jr., John Kirkendoll, and Robin Hardrick; nieces, Sharon Smith, Florna Marie Crawford. He is survived by two daughters, Norm Jean Vincent, and Lovie Moore, both of Clinton; nieces, Doris Grimes, Clinton, Ruth Perry, Fredrick, OK and Gracie Walker, Clinton; Betty Smith, California, Deborah Ann Brown, Tulsa, Linda Smith, Tulsa, Nancy Ann Jackson, Wichita, KS and nephews James Kirkendoll, Lawrence Kirkendoll , OKC, Anthony Hardrick, Wichita, KA, David Smith, Tulsa, Garnett Hardrick, Clinton and numerous grandchildren and great-nieces and nephews and many other relatives.
