Funeral Services for Lillian Sevenstar, 86, Hammon resident will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday September 30, 2022, in the Community Fellowship Church, officiated by Pastors Dolan Ivey and Mona Bearshield. Burial will follow in the Hammon Indian Mennonite Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
There will be an all-night wake service 7:00 P.M., Thursday, September 29, 2022, in the Hammon ERC Building.
Lillian Scabby Sevenstar (Va’naheo’o “Sage Woman”) was born September 18, 1936, in Clinton, OK to Robert Scabby and Anna (Whiteshield) Scabby and was the granddaughter of the late Chief Ben Whiteshield. She passed away Saturday, September 24, 2022, in the Great Plains Medical Center in Elk City, OK.
Lillian was raised and lived in the Hammon, OK area most of her life, however she did spend some time in Taos, NM and Chicago, IL. She married John Sevenstar in Butler, OK and he preceded her in death in January 2020.
She was a member of the Mennonite Church; a proud member of the Cheyenne Tribe and was very traditional. She loved going to pow wow’s, church activities and in her younger years she enjoyed playing softball, basketball and baseball.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, John Sevenstar, Sr. two sisters, Oda Mae Nightwalker and Elizabeth Scabby and two brothers, Robert Lee Scabby and Rueben, son, Jim Sevenstar, two grandsons, Elton Ben Sevenstar and Bruce Evan Sevenstar.
He is survived by three children, Rueben Wesley Sevenstar and family, El Reno, OK, Johnny Sevenstar, Jr. and wife, Joni, Hammon, OK and Janice Marie Garcia and husband, Fernando, Hammon OK: sister, Nina Hill.
She is also survived by several grandchildren.
