She was the youngest of three daughters born to Bernie Lee Newton and Edith Pearl (Williams) Newton. When Lola was about one year old the family moved to Leedey where she grew up. She attended the Leedey School all twelve years, graduating as valedictorian of her class in May 1947. Right after graduation she went to live with her sister, Maxine, in Oklahoma City and attended Hills Business University. On Completion of a Secretarial course, Lola went to work at William Volker Company in Oklahoma City where she was employed until she went back to Leedey to marry her high school sweetheart. Lola and Edward L. (Eddie) Day were married in the First Baptist Church at Leedey on February 27, 1949. Lola & Eddie were joined by one son, Charles Edward (Chuck) Day on September 24, 1950. The young family lived in Leedey until they moved to Clinton in 1957 where Lola was employed at Clinton Production Credit Association for 34 ½ years when she took early retirement. Eddie and Lola loved to travel and spent vacation times and retirement visiting our country, making it to 49 of our 50 states as well as some of Canada and Mexico. They also went on a Missionary trip to the island Trinidad with their First Baptist Church of Clinton. During retirement they volunteered at the Imperial National Wildlife Refuge at Yama, Arizona for four years and spent 23 summers working at the Fun Valley Family Resort in South Fork, Co where they made many friends. When Eddies health failed, they were very fortunate to have their Grandson, Dirk Day, come to live with them. They lost Eddie on January 12, 2015. She was preceded in death by her husband, son Chuck, both parents, two sisters, Lucille Walton and Maxine Beach, Brother-in-law, Bob Day and Sister-in-Law Betty Day, and brother-in-law Charles Day, and brother-in-law Don Day. She is survived by a grandson Dirk Day of the home, sister-in law Sarah Day, and a wonderful group of nephews and nieces and grand nephews and nieces.
