Funeral services for Lonnie "Chubby" Copeland Sr., 71, Clinton Resident, for 1:00 P.M. Wednesday, January 24, 2018, at the Bethany Baptist Church with Rev. Billy Mucker officiating, and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery. Chubby was born October 12, 1946 in Elk City, and passed away January 16, 2018 at his Clinton home. He was raised in Elk City, and graduated Elk City High School in 1967. On November 10, 1967 he married Miss Mozela Williams in Clinton. In 1973 he moved to New Jersey, and drove a bus for A to Z transportation until his retirement in 1992. Then in the same year he moved back to Oklahoma, living in Oklahoma City until he moved back to Clinton in 2003. Chubby was a member of the Bethany Baptist Church where he was very involved. He loved watching T.V., and watching out his window at the Coronado Apartments, and all the residence called him the Coronado Security. He was preceded in death by his parents, and 2 sisters Vernetta Hill and Doris Persons. He is survived by his best friend Mozela Williams of Clinton, his son Lonnie "Bubba" Copeland Jr., his daughter Thorma Hawkins of Clinton, his sisters Earlene Ward of Florida, Betty Clark, of NJ., Lenora Bentley of Oklahoma City, and his brother Leonard and his wife Lury Copeland of NJ.
