Lonnie Grady Chance

A funeral service for Lonnie Grady Chance, 91, Arapaho resident will be held in the Arapaho Assembly of God Church on Thursday August 28, 2014 at 2:00 P.M., officiated by Rev. Gilbert Johnson. Burial will follow in the Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral. Lonnie Grady Chance was born September 15, 1922 to John William Chance and Rosa Belle (Pearson) Chance in Bee Branch, AR and passed away Sunday August 24, 2014 in his Arapaho home. Mr. Chance was raised in Morrilton, AR where he attended school. He joined the Navy On August 15, 1950 in Little Rock, AR. He served in the Pacific, serving in the Korean War and WWII. After his discharge he worked in the Ship yards for National Steel in San Diego, CA for about three years. He was married to Martha Marie Roberts on February 2, 1946 in Morrilton, AR. They moved to Oklahoma City in 1955 where he was employed with Oklahoma General Electric (OG&E). They then moved to Thomas, OK for three years and to Tulsa for a short time where he worked for Douglas Aviation. In 1964 they moved to Clinton where both Lonnie and Marie became beauty operators and owned and operated the 66 Beauty Shop for several years. They retired in 1990 and made their home in Arapaho. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Marie, a son, David Grady in 1951, four brothers, Leo, Marlin, Clifton, and Darrel and sister, Dorotha Little and a grandson, Kenneth Chance. He was a devoted and faithful member of the Arapaho Assembly of God Church, his passion was doting over his grandchildren. He is survived by his son, Ronnie Chance and wife, Vickii, of Kemper, TX and a daughter, Wanda Denley and husband, Buddy, of Grand Saline, TX and a brother, Wilburn chance of Whittington, TX. He is also survived by six grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
