Funeral Services for Lou Carpenter, 85, Elk City resident and former Butler Resident will be held 2:00 PM, Friday, October 21, 2016 in the Gateway Church in Elk City, Oklahoma. Burial will follow in the Butler Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Joyce Louellyn Carpenter was born July 29, 1931 to Otto Jantz and Katie Lorene (Dickey) Jantz in Arapaho, Oklahoma and passed away Saturday, October 15, 2016 in her Elk city home. Lou as her family and friends knew her was raised and attended school in Butler, Oklahoma. She married Dwain R. Carpenter on August 9, 1948 in Wheeler, TX and they made their first home in Butler where they farmed. In 1958 they moved their family to Wichita, Kansas where she worked several years for Cessna Aircraft. In 1970 the Carpenters moved back Butler where they owned and operated the 66 Service Station and they Butler Dairy Boy as well as farming. Mr. Carpenter preceded her in death in 2001. She was later married to Ervin Jerry White on July 4, 2005 in Tucson, AZ. They made their home in Elk City. She was also preceded by in death by a son, Curtis in 2015 and a brother Harry Jantz. She was a member of the Butler Church of Christ and most recently she was attending the Gateway Church in Elk City. She enjoyed the outdoors, gardening and loved working with her animals; her grandchildren were her biggest hobby. She is survived by Jerry White, of Elk City; two daughters, Bonnie Lathrom and Scott Dotter, and Ginger Baker and husband, Rex, all of Butler; daughter in law, Lucy Carpenter, Clinton and a sister Joy Crawford, Elk City and Gina Smith and husband Keith and family of Martha, OK. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren and 11 great-great- grandchildren as well as numerous other nieces, nephews and relatives.
