A graveside service for Mamie Schmidt, 90, former Bessie resident will be held 10:00- A.M., Thursday, August 18, 2016 in the Union Hatchett Cemetery near Bessie, officiated by Rev. Chris Fields and burial under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Mamie (Dyck) Schmidt was born May 2, 1926 to Henry J. Dyck and Lizzie (Peters) Dyck in Corn, Oklahoma and passed away Tuesday, August 16, 2016 in Angelwood living Center in Clinton, OK. Mrs. Schmidt was raised in Corn and attended school at Sparta Elementary. She started farming at a young age and her parents moved to California and left her and her brother John to operate the farm. She was married to Edger Schmidt on March 26, 1944 in Corn, OK. They made their home in Bessie where they also farmed together until his death in 1981. She moved to Clinton and had made it her home. She has been a resident of the Angelwood Living Center. Besides farming she had been employed at the Kellwood factory, Collins and Aikman as well as Braum's Ice Cream. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, four sisters, Margaret Huebert, Martha Moser, Marie Schmidt and Henrietta Golbek and a brother George Dyck. She is survived by two daughters, Maxine Evers and husband, Terry, Springdale, AR and Barbara Merrill, Duncan, OK. She is also survived by three granddaughters, Suzanne Johnson, Norman, Stacy Hoffman, Blanchard, and Christy Oyster, Duncan and five great-grandchildren, Shelby Johnson, Hannah Johnson, Logan Oyster, Carter Oyster and Garrett Oyster.
