Burial will conclude in Mound Valley Cemetery in Thomas, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Margie L. (Burton) Jones was born April 21, 1923 to Lester Burton and Ruby (Hulett) Burton in Lenore, Oklahoma and passed away Monday, March 18, 2013 in the Grace Living Center in Chickasha, OK. Margie was raised in the Taloga area and graduated from Taloga High School in 1941. As a young girl of 12 years old she began a life long love for playing the piano by accompanying her father and Uncle Ivan’s gospel quartet and for many years thereafter provided a ministry of beautiful piano and organ music for her family churches, rest homes, and other special occasions and events. However, her most important contribution to her community and family is the example she set as a committed Christian woman. She was married to Mr. Robert C. Jones on June 11, 1941 and to the marriage was born two daughters, Roberta Owens and husband, Garry and Carolyn Sanders and husband Jaydee, of Anadarko. She was a member of the Prairie Bell Baptist Church and later the Putnam Christian Church where she assisted her husband Robert as Treasurer for over 20 years. She truly felt her musical talent was a “God given” gift and never tired of using it for his glory. In 2004 she was inducted into the Dewey County Hall of Fame. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Robert; her parents, Lester and Ruby Burton; her brothers Bob, Bill and Roger and two grandchildren Shelly and Scott. She is survived by her two daughters and a brother John Burton, grandchildren, Brent, Klint, Shana, Kris and Nicole; special grandchildren Sean and Derek; great-grandchildren, Suzanne, Kaylon, Ashley, Kadance, Brittany Ethan Karley, Madalyn, Owen, Luke, Ryann and Tate and special great-grandchildren Kirsten, Dallas, Dylan, Nick, Noah, Aden, Emily and Alice and great-great-grandchildren, Trinity, Taylor and Ryen. The family will greet guest at 5:00 P.M. till 7:00 P.M. Thursday, March 21, 2013 at the funeral home. The family has suggested those wishing to give a memorial contribution may do so to the Putnam Senior Citizens or Putnam Christian Church.
