A Mass of Christian Burial for Maria Galvan, 72, Butler resident, will be held 10:00 A.M., Thursday, January 9, 2020 in the St. Mary’s Catholic Church, officiated by Father Balaswamy Mandagiri. Burial will follow in the Butler Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. A Rosary Service will be held 6:00 P.M., Wednesday, January 8, 2020 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel. Maria Yolanda Galvan was born August 13, 1947 to Domingo Pena and Elvira (Domingez) Pena in Corpus Robstown, TX and passed away Friday, January 3, 2020 in the St. Anthony’s Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Maria was raised in Robstown, TX area and traveled across the United States with her migrant family during harvest. She spent a short time in Hollis, Oklahoma where she met Johnny Flores “Poncho” Galvan and they were married on April 24, 1960 in Clinton, OK. They have made Butler their home since 1961 and they have raised eight children. She was a homemaker and she also worked in the cotton fields while raising her family. She was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church; she volunteered at the Butler School where she helped translate for Spanish children; she was a good cook and was well known for her tortillas; there were a number of visiting hunters in the Butler area and she helped clean ducks for several celebrity’s including Jerry Mathers “The Beaver”, Lee Majors and the Governor Keating. She was preceded in death by her husband, “Poncho”, three sons, Raul, Ricky and Leo and a daughter in law, Denise. She is survived by daughter, Juanita Warfield and husband, Jason Wilson, Enid, four sons, Amador Galvan, Johnny Galvan, Jr., Alfredo Galvan and Jesus Galvan; a sister Maria Ellena and husband Isaria Meja, Stephenville, TX; brothers, David Pena and wife, Linda, Hollis, OK, Reinaldo Pena and wife, Maria DeLos Angels,, Dallas, TX, Domingo Pena, Jr., and wife, Lupe, Dallas, TX, Magdalena Pena, Dublin, TX. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Cody Warfield, Cadyn Warfield, Colin Warfield, Cerena Warfield, Marissa Galvan, Ricky Galvan, Chris Galvan, Johnny “J.J.” Galvan, Anna Galvan, Elaina, Galvan, Tyler Galvan, Katy Galvan, Abel Galvan, Wesley Galvan and Siera Galvan and 13 great-grandchildren, Damon, MaKenzey, Ashlyn , Wesley, Makayla, Autumn, Eric, Steven, Aiden, Brock, Aubrany, Conner and Xaivor.
