Marjory Edna Brown Watson was born July 16, 1915 on a farm 21/2 miles southwest of Colony, Oklahoma and passed away Monday, April 21, 2014 in her Peoria, AZ home. She went to school in the country at Pioneer School. When she entered the 4th grade, the family moved to the town of Colony. Marjory was in the 11th grade when she met Tolbert who was teaching school at Colony. Since teachers could not date students, Marjory quit school. They were married January 10, 1932. In August, 1932, they moved to Stafford where Tolbert had a position as teacher and coach. In February, 1933, their daughter, Kay, was born. Six years later in 1939, their son, Kyle was born. During their time in Stafford, Marjory finished high school, graduating in 1937. They moved to Arapaho the summer of 1939. On December 19, 1943, Tolbert was drafted into the Navy during World War II. Marjory became a rural letter carrier in Tolbert's place for 10 months. She then took leave of absence to go with the kids to live in California to be with Tolbert, until he went to sea on an oil tanker. In California, Marjory became a regular "Rosie the Riveter" working in a defense plant. After Tolbert went to sea, Marjory and the kids returned to Oklahoma until the war was over. They then joined Tolbert to live about a year in Galveston, Texas until Tolbert was discharged in August, 1946. The family returned to Arapaho where Tolbert and Marjory became postal employees. They retired in 1982. Marjory had 36 years of service, Tolbert had 39 years, making a total of 75 years. During the years in Arapaho, Marjory was active in Sew and So Club which is now extinct. The Club helped the City of Arapaho to get street signs, to restore the public library, and make contributions to the local cemetery. Marjory and Tolbert were the main committeemen who created the book titled Trail of 100 Years for Arapaho's centennial celebration. Kyle, their son, predeceased Marjory in 1992 and Tolbert, her husband of 73 years, predeceased her in 2004 and a son in law, Alfred Goucher in 2013.
