Funeral Services for Marlene Whittington, 77, former Butler resident and currently of Newkirk, OK will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Custer City First Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Roy Wilburn and Rev. Keith Stone, burial will conclude in the Butler Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Mona Marlene (Maloy) Whittington was born February 9, 1936 to K.L. and Viola Mae (Baker) Maloy in Butler, OK and passed away late Tuesday, November 19, 2013 in the South Central Kansas Medical Center in Arkansas City, KS. Marlene was raised in Butler and graduated from Butler High School in 1954. She played on the basketball team and was a baton twirler in the high school band. She was married to her high school sweetheart, William Leon Whittington on June 6, 1954. They made their homes in Winnsboro, TX, Butler, Oklahoma, and they moved on to Custer City, Oklahoma in 1960. She was employed with the local grocery store and the Custer City Public Schools. She was a faithful and active member of the First Baptist Church. She was saved at an early age and rededicated her life in 2011. She participated in Mission work through Campers on Missions across the United States as well as Mexico. They made their final move to Newkirk Oklahoma in 2006. She was preceded in death by her parents, K.L. Maloy, Viola Mae Fancher and step dad, Herschell Fancher, a brother, Gary Ray Fancher and one brother in law, Neal Whittington. She is survived by her husband of over 59 years, Leon, of the home, three sons, Ricky Whittington and his wife, Stephanie, of Clinton, Randy Whittington, of Stillwater, Ok and Russell Whittington and his wife, Marie, of Jenks, OK; brother, G.H. Fancher and his wife, Marilyn, of Edmond, OK, two sisters in law, Dorthy Whittington, Butler, OK and Alice Fancher, of Stillwater, OK; uncle G.W. Wright, of Butler, OK. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Julie Whittington, Jennifer Carpenter and her husband, Barry, Sarah Alvarez and her husband, Jose, Myrah Whittington. Leah Whittington, Cole Whittington, Blake Whittington, six great-grandchildren, Whit Carpenter, Cameran Carpenter, Coulson Carpenter, Reese Carpenter, Dominic Alvarez, Khloe Juelfs and numerous nieces and nephews and cousins. The family has suggested those wishing to give a memorial contribution may do so to the Baptist Children's Home in Oklahoma City, OK The family will greet guests at the funeral home 6:00 P.M. till 8:00 P.M. Friday, November 22, 2013.
