Mary Ann Stermer moved on to the next stage of life on October 7, 2014. Her memory and the joy she brought all who knew her will continue to endure for many years to come. Mary Ann was born on October 19, 1952 in Clinton, Oklahoma to parents Luke and Irene (Schamburg) Pruitt. She passed while in ICU at Oklahoma City after battling a variety of health issues for several years. Mary Ann loved music, playing piano, and reading. She enjoyed playing piano at the Arapaho Methodist Church and later at the Clinton United Methodist Church. Her love of music resonated in her later endeavors of teaching piano to the wonderful students who came to her home on a weekly basis and to the Sunday School children who would visit her and learn Bible songs. In recent years, her most beloved activity was to visit with her grandchildren Gavin and Rustyn who always put a huge smile on her face and a light in her eyes. She was delighted and bursting with pride as her son, Paul Stermer graduated from Oklahoma State University with a Ph.D in Psychology. Although she was unable to attend the commencement ceremony, she was able to watch as Paul crossed the stage thanks to her favorite form of communication, her iPad. Mary Ann also expressed her deep pride and admiration as her daughter, Miranda Evans started her own catering business. She called her daughter on almost a daily basis just to see what was on her menu for the week. She always had a recipe to share from her internet searches. Mary Ann Stermer and her brother, Mark Pruitt were raised in Arapaho, Oklahoma by her loving parents Luke and Irene Pruitt. She lived in rural Arapaho until moving to facilities in Clinton and Corn to better care for her health needs. She was preceded in death by her parents Luke and Irene Pruitt. She is survived by her daughter Miranda Evans, Miranda's husband Matt Evans and their children Gavin and Rustyn Evans, all of Clinton. She is also survived by son Paul Stermer of Groton, Connecticut, her brother Mark Pruitt of Arapaho, and her nephew Cory Pruitt, his wife Kristen Pruitt and their three children Lyla, Deacon, and Riggins, all of Arapaho. A service celebrating Mary Ann's life will be held in the Clinton First United Methodist Church on Saturday, October 11 at 10:00am. Friends and family are invited to come and share their thoughts and memories of Mary Ann on that day as she would have loved for her family to be surrounded by laughter and joy even during the sadness of her passing. In lieu of flower, the family requests donations to the Mary Ann Stermer Fund at The Bank of The West or online at www.youcaring.com/stermer. Funds will be used to purchase items such as Kindles, iPads, Sheet Music and all the things Mom loved to people who can use them.
