Funeral Services for Mary Belle Lonebear, 89, longtime Clinton resident will be held 11:00 A.M., Saturday, June 2, 2018 in the First United Methodist Church, officiated by Rev. Sophia Big Goose and Rev. Gerald Panana. Burial will conclude in the Clinton Indian Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. An All Night Wake Service will be held starting 7:00 P.M. on Friday, June 1, 2018 in the Community Center. Mary Belle (Curtis) Lonebear was born August 8, 1928 during a traditional Sundance Ceremony in Cantonment, OK and passed away Sunday, May 27, 2018 in the Deaconess Hospital in Oklahoma City. Mary Belle Lonebear was raised in Geary and Watonga and she graduated from Clinton High school in 1947. She attended Nursing School in Texas. She returned to Clinton and was employed at the Clinton Indian Hospital. She assisted in delivering many babies and later she became the hospital telephone operator. She is a member of the Clinton Indian Methodist Church as well as the Native American Church, she loved to make shawls and do Indian bead work; she instrumental in forming the Military Service Club and has served as president for many years. She served as the Cheyenne Princess 1947/48 and was the Cheyenne Arapaho Labor Day Pow Wow Princess for two years. She was married to William Lonebear, Sr. in 1952 in Thomas, OK and he preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents, two sons, William Lonebear, Jr., Robert Lonebear, Sr. three brothers, Nathan Curtis, Raymond Stonecalf and Ameil George Curtis, Jr. and sister, Caroline Curtis. She is survived by, two daughters, Laquita Lonebear and spouse, Seger Williams, Geary, Ok and Kimberley Lonebear, Clinton; two adopted sons, Darrell Flyingman, Coloney and Perkins White Tail, Mayetta, KS; sister, Roberta Harrison, Clinton, two adopted sisters, Marie Whiteman, Watonga and Mary Arkeketa, Sand Springs, OK and an adopted brother, Max Watan, Weatherford. . She is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild.
