Mary Dale Griffin

Funeral Services for Mary Griffin, 84, Clinton resident will be held 10:00 AM, Monday, June 3, 2024, in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel officiated by Randy Meacham. The burial will follow in the Custer City Masonic Cemetery in Custer City, OK under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.

Mary Dale (Cavasos) Griffin was born February 22, 1940, to Lawrence Cavasos and Addie Lee (Espy) Cavasos on a farm SW of Leedey during a snowstorm and delivered by her oldest sister. Mary passed away May 27, 2024, in her Clinton residence surrounded by family.

Mary started her young life out in Clinton, OK and when she was two years old, she moved to California with her family. From early childhood through high school, Mary lived in both Oklahoma and California. She attended school in Wheatland, California.

She attended cosmetology school while in California. She worked in a Beauty Shop until she moved back to Oklahoma in 1978. She worked as a waitress at the Branding Iron Restaurant for several years while also running the Tradewinds Texaco until its closing in 1990.

Mary was talented in many ways and enjoyed gardening, ceramics, quilting, crocheting and painting. She also enjoyed traveling with Bill and loved her dogs and cats to the fullest.

She is preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Elmer Cavasos, Harvey Cavasos, and Earl Cavasos and two sisters, Ethel Mowles and Nina Dean Webb and longtime companion, Bill Sorter, son in law, Allen Russell and grandson, Josh Cook.

She is survived by two daughters, Debora Russell and Janice Merrill and husband, Kent, both of Clinton, OK, two sons, Lawrence Snider, and wife Sandra, of Clinton, OK, and Jack Snider and wife, Mollie, of Cordell, sister, Verna Mae Shelton, of Thomas, OK.

She is also survived by 11 grandchildren Janet Jones and husband Neal, Leanna King and husband Matt, Jeremy Fine and wife, Jessica, Justin Snider and wife Courtney, Chris Snider, Kim Weil and husband, Cody, Kyle Merrill and Kalon Merrill. 21 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson and several nieces and nephews.
