A Chapel Service for Mary Lou Baxter, 77, former Custer County resident and now of Oklahoma City, will be held 2:00 P.M., Thursday, November 8, 2012 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Sandy Shepherd and burial will follow in the Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau Lee Funeral Home. Mary Lou Baxter was born June 29, 1935 to Homer and Edith Mae (Hargus) Baxter at Barnitz Creek north east of Butler, OK and passed very unexpectedly Friday, November 2, 2012 in the Oklahoma University Medical Center in Oklahoma City. Miss Baxter was raised in the Barnitz Creek area and attended school in Arapaho graduating in about 1953. She continued her education at Southwestern State College in Weatherford at graduated with a teaching degree. After she graduated from College she return to her home school in Arapaho and began her teaching career. She also taught school in Woodward and eventually ended up at Midwest City- Del City School System where she eventually retired. She helped raise and educate her niece and nephew and now they both have children who will miss her deeply. She is preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Edith Baxter and a brother, Howard Baxter. She is a member of the St. Luke’s United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. She is survived by a sister, Dottie Ann Parliament, San Antonio, TX and nieces and nephews, Desiree Nobles, John Baxter, Stanley Baxter and Dennis Baxter. Grandchidlren Kyle Nobles, Megan Nobles, Tara Nobles, Hayley Baxter, Lyndsey Baxter, Sydney Baxter, and Maycey Baxter.
