Maurine Gregg

December 30, 1938 — September 29, 2024

 Gregg, Maurine, 85, passed away Sunday evening while sleeping after a long illness. Maurine was born December 30, 1938 in Sayre, OK to Mike and Lela Merrifield. After graduating from Cordell High School, she began a career as a secretary for Jefferson Elementary and later moved to Maryland and worked as an administrative assistant for a Sandy Springs Bank President. After a successful 40-year career of secretarial service, Maurine retired in 2002.

Maurine enjoyed spending time with husband, Leon and raising their son Darryn, as family time was important to her. Maurine and Leon were season ticket holders for the Sooner football and basketball games and she loved sharing time with her family while watching the Sooners. Maurine was the ultimate Oklahoma Sooner Fan who knew stats and figures about most of the players. She also liked sewing, reading mysteries by author, Rick Scott and especially, antique shopping.

Maurine was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by her husband Leon; son Darryn and Vicki Smith; sister Arlene Vanderveer; three grandchildren, Jason Smith and his wife Stephanie, Tara Payne and husband Trey and Timothy Smith and his wife Heather; seven great grandchildren, Kyser and Gunnar Smith, Trendyn, Talyn, Trakyr, Troopyr Payne and Maddox Smith; nephew, Curt Vanderveer and Tammy Dresser; niece Michelle Price and husband Terry and a host of family and friends.

Services for Maurine will be held 2:00 PM Friday, October 4, 2024 in the Randy Kiesau Chapel 2500 W. Modelle Clinton, OK with interment following in Lawnview Cemetery Cordell, O
