Max Parr

Funeral Services for Max Parr, 81, Arapaho resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, February 10, 2015 in the First Christian Church officiated by Doyle Kinney, Jeff McDowell and Sandy Shepherd. Burial will follow in the Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Max Leo Parr was born May 21, 1933 to Otto Lester Parr and Eudora Pearl (Freeman) Parr near Arapaho and passed away early Sunday, February 8, 2015 in the United Methodist Health Care Center in Clinton, OK. Mr. Parr was raised on east Barnitz Creek Northwest of Arapaho, OK. He attended Womble Country School thru the 7th grade and then he attended and graduated from Arapaho high School in 1951. He soon was drafted in the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict. After his honorable discharged he returned back to Custer County and continued farming and ranching. He was married to Wilma Collins on May 5, 1957 in Clinton. They made their home in Clinton for a short time and then they built a new home on the Arapaho family farm and they have lived there until the present time. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant daughter; granddaughter, Lori Beth Parr; six brothers, Ray, Otis, Elmer, Lorin, J.R. and Alvin; three sisters, Velma Wells and Vera Coulson and Verna Waltrip. He was a member of the First Christian Church and was a member of the Seekers Sunday School Class and the Monday Morning Men's Breakfast Club, Oklahoma Cattlemen's Association, Southwestern Cattlemen's Association, and the Texas Longhorns Association. He enjoyed making and designing things, he could build about anything, he like working on machinery, raising horses and he was very proud that he was able to use his horses in the centennial parade in Guthrie. He is survived by his wife, Wilma of the home, two sons, Curtis Max Parr and wife, Peggy, of Caddo, OK and Tim Mark Parr and wife, Heather, of Arapaho; two sisters, Dorothy Cunningham, OKC, OK and Gracie Hill, of Cupertino, CA. He is also survived by seven grandchildren, Natalie, Clayton, Julie, Katie, Gene, Adrianna and Anthony.
