Graveside services will be held 2:00 P.M., Saturday, August 29, 2015 in the Llano Cemetery in Amarillo, Texas. On August 26, 2015, a celebration began in heaven as Maxine Green, or "Sister Green" as she was affectionately known, took her last breath in this present world. She began to walk on streets of gold and joined in with those singing a brand new song of the redeemed. Maxine was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and prayer warrior that knew how to pray and trust our Lord. As the wife of Pastor Carlyle Green, she was truly his "help mate", a faithful servant to The Lord and to the churches he pastored. She had a special gift of hospitality and friends loved coming to her home for a meal and fellowship. Her greatest love was for her husband, children and grandchildren; but most of all for her Savior, The Lord Jesus Christ. Maxine was born in Caddo, Oklahoma, the daughter of Marion and Bertha Steward Smith. She married her husband in 1939 and they pastored Pentecostal churches in Oklahoma, Colorado and Texas. After her husband's death in 1977 she moved to their retirement home in Amarillo, Texas. In 2004 she sold her home there and moved to Clinton, Oklahoma to be near her daughter. Maxine is now a resident of her heavenly home, the New Jerusalem. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Carlyle Green; her parents, Marion and Bertha Smith; her brother, Titus Gene Smith; her sister, Imogene Smith South; grandson, David Lynn Martin and great-granddaughter, Ashley Bishop. Those left to cherish her memory are her six children, Lareta Bishop and husband Ronald (Ron) of Clinton, OK; Betty Martin and husband Lawrence (Buddy) of Pineville, LA; Darrel Green and wife Debbie, of Clovis, NM; Charles Green of Punta Gorda, Belize; Carla Swindle of Houston, TX; and Karen Mousavizadeh and husband Alireza (Ray) of Houston, TX; her eleven grandchildren, Mark Bishop, Dalton Bishop (Jennifer), Nathan Martin (Lori), Andre Martin (Judy), Shana Martin, DaNell Kite (Troy), Dayna Tillery (Freddie), Darren Green, Charelle Gammon (Trae), Meliheh States (Tom) and Hassan Mousavizadeh (Margaret); her brothers Wayne Smith (Juanita) of Oklahoma City and Keith Smith (Cherie) of Kingston, OK; 22 great-grandchildren, 5 great-great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be her grandsons: Mark Bishop, Dalton Bishop, Nathan Martin, Andre Martin, Darren Green and Hasan Mousavizadeh.
