Graveside services for Melvin Ray Poindexter 81, longtime Arapaho resident have been set for 10 AM Thursday, July 22, 2021, in the Arapaho Cemetery, Hoyt Phillips officiating, and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Melvin was born September 26, 1939, in Blackwell, OK to Jess and Jessie (Maple) Poindexter, and passed away July 17, 2021, at Angelwood assisted living center in Clinton. Melvin was raised in the Blackwell, OK area, and attended school in Blackwell. He retired from the Oklahoma Natural Gas Company after many years of service. He loved fishing, woodworking, and crossword puzzles. Melvin married Leona Lax in September of 1993 in Arapaho. Melvin was a member of the Arapaho First Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, and a son Kendall Poindexter. He is survived by a daughter Rhonda Lady and Nathan Love of Arapaho, two sons Russell Lady and wife Cheri of Weatherford, Richard Lady of Arapaho, a sister Wanda Moore of Carinth, TX., two brothers Billy Dean Poindexter and wife Maria of Denver, Don Poindexter and wife Cindy of Skiatook, and a grandson Dez’mon Lady of Arapaho, also a host of nieces and nephews and cousins.
