Funeral Services for Nolan Unruh, 89, Clinton resident will be held 10:30 A.M., Monday, January 7, 2019 in the first Mennonite Church officiated by Daniel Mosburg, burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Nolan Unruh was born September 18, 1929 to DeDan and Marie (Nightingale) Unruh in Carnegie, Oklahoma and passed away in the Alliance Heath Clinton on Thursday, January 3, 2019. Nolan was raised in Carnegie, OK and attended Alden School where he graduated in 1947. He soon moved to Liberal, Kansas and worked for Beach Aircraft. He married Vonita Dalke on September 18, 1952 in Bessie, OK. They made their first home in Carnegie and he was soon drafted in the U.S. Army in 1952. He served as a Medic and then honorably discharged in 1954. They moved to Liberal, Kansas for a short period and then settled back in Clinton in 1956. He began a long career with Oklahoma Natural Gas and served this community for over 30 years. He then spent five years with the City of Clinton working at the Riverside Golf Course and then seven years with Clinton Public Schools as janitor. He was a longtime and faithful member of the First Mennonite Church where he served as deacon and Sunday school teacher, he enjoyed fishing, mechanizing, and working on and rebuilding small engines and he enjoyed working on his rebuilt tractor. He is preceded in death by his parents, , brother, Leland Unruh and a sister Helen Barburg. He is survived by his wife, Vonita Unruh of the home; daughter, Shelly Hakspiel and husband, Vince, Shalimar, Florida, son, Matt and wife, Martha, Snider, TX, sister, Evelyn Mulherin, Hydro and brother, Arline Unruh, Texas. He is also survived by three grandchildren, Lena Unruh, Meagan Unruh and Alex Hakspiel.
