Funeral services for Norene A. Kennedy, age 92, lifetime Clinton resident, will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 20, 2022, at the Cornerstone Church in Clinton, officiated by Jared Nunn. Burial will follow at the Clinton Cemetery, and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
Norene was born February 6, 1930, in Clinton, OK., to Benjamin Arthur and Elva Mae (Alston) Petty, and passed away Sunday, October 16, 2022, in her granddaughter’s Harrah home.
Norene was born and raised in Clinton, she attended the Clinton Public Schools, she married Elmore F. Hicks on February 20, 1948, in Wheeler, TX., and later married Robert E. Kennedy in 1975, in Clinton. She worked as one of the original waitresses for Pop Hicks historical restaurant, was a well-known beautician in the Clinton area for many years. She later worked as a cook and custodian for over 20 years for the Clinton Junior High where she was known as grandma to several generations that passed through her lunchroom.
Norene attended the Cornerstone Church with her family, she loved talking and visiting to anyone, she loved eating, especially loved her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by both parents, and both husbands, a sister Betty Pyeatt, an infant twin sister Lorene Petty, and a granddaughter Kimberly McCathern.
She is survived by two daughters Yvonne Gholston of Clinton, Kathy Shepard and her husband Kendall of Clinton, two sons Bob Hicks of Clinton, Franklin D. Hicks and his wife Cindy, of Watauga, TX., 2 sisters Doris Stanford of Erick, and Maudie Martin of Sun City Center, Florida
She is also survived by 10 grandchildren and numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
