Funeral Services for Ollie James Taplin, 87, Clinton resident will be held 1:00 P.M., Saturday, October 27, 2012, in the Bethany Baptist Church, officiated by Rev. Billy Mucker and Rev. Joe Jefferson, burial will conclude in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Ollie James Taplin was born March 19, 1925 to Doc and Ella (Brown) Taplin in Somerville, TX and passed away Friday, October 19, 2012, in the Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Ollie was raised in Somerville and Bryan, TX and did most of his schooling in Bryan. He started farming at a young age. He married Hattie Lee Ware on December 23, 1948 in Bryan, TX. They moved their family to Oklahoma January 14, 1958 and settled in Clinton where he continued to farm. He also worked as a Chef at Ralph’s Café for several years and was forced to retire do to failing health. He was a member of the True Gospel Tabernacle Church where he served as Deacon. He also attended services at Bethany Baptist Church. He enjoyed sharing the gospel and he liked to sing gospel music. He liked to play dominoes and his passion was spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by his parents, grandson, Toriano Taplin, granddaughter, Rhonda Black and a great grandson, Rashod Black, three sisters, Irene Taplin, Lena Johnson and Gertrude Ray and three brothers, Samuel Taplin, Joe Taplin and James Arthur Flowers. He is survived by his wife of over 63 years, Hattie of the home, six daughters, Verna Marie Godfrey, Cedar Hill, TX, Barbara Ann Taplin, Clinton, Patricia Louis Taplin-Nichols and husband, Ronald, Norman, OK, Nancy Faye Manney and husband, Jerome, Arlington, TX, Cheryl Diane Taplin, Duncanville, TX , Terrel Elois Blair and husband, Don, Garland, TX, three sons, Myron James Taplin and wife, Jamesette, OKC, OK, Harold Taplin and wife, Sheila, OKC, OK and Donald Taplin, Clinton. He is also survived by a sister, Esteline Mathis, Lockney, TX and 23 grandchildren, 48 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends.
