Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Opal Alline Brown, born on March 6, 1941, and departed this life to go and be with her Lord on Thursday, October 12, 2017 in Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 76. After a long-standing battle with illness Opal leaves to mourn her passing a sister, Betty Smith, a son, Dennis Brown and his wife Jennifer, two granddaughters, five great-granddaughters, and one great-great-grandson. Preceding her in death were her mother and father, Nora Rae Majors and William Allen, respectively. As well as a sister, Maxine Brock, a nephew, Ricky Smith, and a grandson, Carlos Henry Newell, III. Although reserve, Opal spoke often and with fondness of her years growing up in Winchester, Tennessee. From 1959 to 1962, Opal served in the United States Army and was stationed in Heidelberg, Germany. While there she met and married, Bill Albine Brown. Shortly after her military tour was complete they began a family and moved to Clinton, OK. She worked diligently for 23 years at Kellwood Factory and then the Veterans Affairs Medical Center before retiring. Though Opal left this world without words, she was a woman of faith and believed in the one true God who always has a perfect word, "And now, dear brothers and sisters, we want you to know what will happen to the believers who have died so you will not grieve like people who have no hope. For since we believe that Jesus died and was raised to life again, we also believe that when Jesus returns, God will bring back with him the believers who have died." 1 Thess. 4:13-14. Like Opal, we can have hope in the fact that "our present troubles are small and won't last very long. Yet they produce for us a glory that vastly outweighs them and will last forever! So we don't look at the troubles we can see now; rather, we fix our gaze on things that cannot be seen. For the things we see now will soon be gone, but the things we cannot see will last forever." 2 Cor. 4:17-18.
