Funeral Services for Leon Meason, 86, Arapaho resident will be held 10:00 A.M., August 13, 2015 in the Arapaho's First Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Lloyd Hall and Rev. Vann Leonard. Burial will conclude in the Arapaho Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau Lee Funeral Home. Othel Leon Meason was born December 21, 1928 to Fred and Viva (Willis) Meason in Russell, OK and passed away Friday August 7, 2015 in the Veterans Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Leon was raised in Western Oklahoma until he was 8 years old and then the family moved to Pampa, TX. He attended Pampa schools graduating from Pampa high school in 1947. He was soon married to Patsy Ruth Wright in July 18, 1948 in Lefors, TX. He was employed by Phillips Petroleum before enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corp on March 11, 1952. He served during the Korean Conflict. He was stationed at San Diego, CA, Jacksonville, FL and Cherry Point NC. He was honorably discharged March 10, 1954. He returned back to Pampa, TX where he worked as a machinist. He moved to Clinton, OK and was employed with A.W. Pool until his most recent illness and stay in the hospital. He is preceded in death by his parents, and his wife. He is a faithful and active member of the Arapaho First Baptist Church where he had served as music director and Sunday school teacher: A Lifetime Member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, he has served as Commander of the American Legion and was presently serving as Historian. He enjoyed fishing and square dancing. He is survived by his only son, Norman, of Arapaho, sister, Margo Stanley, of Pampa, TX and a brother, Hal Burgess and his wife, Roberta of Corpus Christi, TX. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
