Funeral Services for Paul Friesen, 88, Corn resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, May 10, 2016 in the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church, officiated by Rev. Ken Gardner and Rev. Tim Sandy. Burial will conclude in the Corn Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Paul Isaac Friesen was born October 8, 1927 to Peter E. and Katie (Heibert) Friesen Southwest of Wetherford, OK and passed away early Wednesday, May 4, 2016 in the Corn Heritage Village in Corn , OK. Paul was raised on the family farm Southwest of Weatherford. He attended the Friesen Country School before attending Corn High School and graduating in 1946, He also attended Corn Bible Academy and received his certificate in Bible. He was married to Melba Jean Reimer on April 8, 1947 in Corn, OK. He was employed with his father in law in the hardware store as well as working for the Chaplain Gas Station. In 1955 he owned and operated the Corn Hardware Store and retired in 2009 after 54 years of serving the Corn Community. He also farmed for many years. He is a member of the Corn Mennonite Brethren Church and had served in many capacities. He was a volunteer Fire Fighter; served on many project committees for the city of Corn and promoted both Corn High School and the Corn Bible Academy. He enjoyed golfing in his younger years and he raised fruit trees and spent many hours caring for them. He is preceded in death by his parents and five sisters, Lillie Balzer, Alice Wiebe, Tillie Schmidt, Lucille Rogalsky and Ruby Becker and four brothers, Wilson Friesen, Albert Friesen, Harvey Friesen, and Erwin Friesen. He is survived by his wife, Melba, of the home, daughter, Gloria Block and husband, Jim, Keller, TX, two sons, Larry Friesen, San Francisco, CA and Greg Friesen and wife, Lisa, Weatherford, OK,' He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jeff Block, Keller, TX, Noelle French, McCloud, OK, Brandon Friesen and wife, Leah, Kingfisher, Brittany Friesen, Yukon and Nicholas Friesen, Weatherford and 8 great-grandchildren. The family has suggested those wanting to give a Memorial Contribution may do so to the Corn Mennonite Youth Center.
