November 27, 1917 — December 23, 2012

A Chapel Service for Pauline Fleming Rose, 95, Weatherford resident and Pioneer Clinton educator, will be held 1:00 P.M., Friday, December 28, 2012 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel officiated by Dr. Gary Hendrix and Rev. Lynn Brack. Burial will conclude in the Custer City Masonic Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Pauline Fleming Rose was born November 27, 1917 to Charles Pearson Fleming and Many Jane (Bozarth) Fleming in Custer City, OK and passed away early Sunday, December 23, 2012 at the Weatherford Living Center in Weatherford, OK. She was raised in Custer City, OK where family, church, and education were the focus. She graduated from Custer City High School and continued her education at Southwestern Oklahoma State University where she received her Bachelor of Science in Education. She was a Southwestern Oklahoma State University Bull PUP, a member of Hi Jinks, KKI, Oklahoma Educators Association, Teachers Education Association, and many other organizations in Clinton, Weatherford, and Nowata. She taught school in a one room school house in Elm Bend, OK where she met and married rancher Eugene Wesley Rose. She later moved to Clinton, OK and taught at the Nance Elementary School in the same class room for over forty-one years. She also had three sisters who taught in the Clinton School District at the same time. She fondly remembered her students, fellow teachers, and principals, teaching Head Start, and traveling back and forth to SWOSU with a group of teachers from Clinton for summer classes. Some of her most treasured memories were being at the Rocking E Ranch fixing a FEAST for her family, being a Volunteer Dispatch at the 1033 Emergency, serving as Oracle for the Royal Neighbors, helping with V.F.W. Events, and being a member of many other civic organizations. She enjoyed bidding at cattle auctions, feeding the buffalo (one named “Buffy” in particular), standing at the gate at sunset watching the wild horses running, playing the piano, and being with her family. She enjoyed traveling to Germany, France, Belgium, and Holland, where she loved the wind mills and flowers. She was blessed to have dear friends in each country. Her laughter and zest for life will be truly missed by all her family and friends. She is survived by her son, Dr. Ken Rose and wife Susan of Weatherford, OK, and daughter, Judy Overton and Tom Gresham of Leawood, Kansas. She is also survived by granddaughters D’Ann Rose Berrong and husband Jeff, and Tiler Rose; her grandsons, David Rose and Wesly Rose, all of Weatherford, and J. Mike Wells and wife Jode of Justin, TX; and great-grandchildren Brianna Grace Adams of Kansas City, MO and Rhett Michael and Samuel Augustus Wells of Justin, TX; and a multitude of nieces and nephews that she held dear. Pauline was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Wesley Rose, parents Mary Jane Bozarth Fleming and Charles Pearson Fleming; six sisters: Ruth Fleming, Beatrice Foster, Jewell Fleming, Alma Hendrix, Hazel Frymire, and Kathryn Benander; five brothers: Fenton, Carl, Pearson, Fred and J.D.; grandson Blake Fleming Overton, and great-granddaughter “Little Judy Wells.” The family wants to thank the Weatherford Living Center and the many friends who supported her and gave great care. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Department of Education or the College of Professional and Graduate Studies at Southwestern Oklahoma State University, 100 Campus Drive, Weatherford, Oklahoma 73096-3098. Visitation will begin 8:00 A.M., Thursday, December 27, 2012. You may post condolences to the family or memories about Pauline at lee-funeralhomes.com.
