Peggy Jo Lash

Peggy Jo Lash of Yukon, Oklahoma, passed peacefully into heaven surrounded by her loving family on July 24, 2024.

Born on April 18, 1939, in Thomas, Oklahoma to Mayme and Wayne Foster, her parents encouraged Peggy’s lifetime of service to others.

Peggy is survived by her daughter, Ronna Dotson and husband Eddie, and their children, Derek Dotson and wife Mandi, Jill King and husband Hunter. She is also survived by great grandchildren McClain, Drew, Kennedy and Beckett. Also her sister, Sue Langley and husband, Cledius. She also leaves behind her cherished sister in laws, Kathie Foster and Marilyn Bullard, along with several nieces and nephews. Peggy was preceded in death by her parents, Mayme and Wayne Foster, husband, R.L. Lash, daughter, Shelly Lash and her brothers, Stanley and Paul Foster. The family feels great peace knowing upon entering heaven, Peggy was welcomed in celebration by those who went before her.

Peggy was raised in Custer and graduated from Custer High School in 1957. She married R.L. Lash, August 4, 1958. They both attended SWOSU in Weatherford where Peggy graduated with a degree in Education. After n, they moved to Manitou, OK to begin their teaching careers. As they started a family, they moved to Butler where Peggy stayed home with their two daughters Ronna and Shelly. In 1969, they moved to the family farm and took over the farming operations.

Peggy was very active in the community and Independence Methodist Church. She was a woman of deep faith and it showed in all aspects of her life.

She was a very talented seamstress and quilter. When her grandchildren Derek and Jill came along, she was their biggest fan of all their activities. She was an avid supporter of the Oklahoma City Thunder and had no problems coaching them from the comfort of her couch.

Peggy’s memory will be cherished by all who knew her—for her laughter, warmth and kindness. A profound impact was made an all of the lives she touched and her legacy will continue to inspire and guide those fortunate enough to know her.

Funeral Services for Peggy Jo Lash, 85, of Yukon (formerly of Custer City) will be held July 30, 2024 at 10:00  in the Kiesau-Lee Chapel in Clinton. Officiated by Logan Key of Refuge Church. The burial will follow at the Custer Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home.
