Renetta Marie (Unruh) Plett was born July 2, 1925 in Newton, Kansas to Bernhard and Margaret (Klaasen) Unruh and she passed away Wednesday, January 25, 2017 (which would have been her husband's 97th birthday) in Clinton, Oklahoma at the age of 91 years. Renetta was raised in Peabody, Kansas and attended Walton High School, graduating in 1943. She continued her education and attended two years at Bethel College. She married Vernon Plett on August 23, 1946 in Newton, Kansas. She often stated that he was her permanent gift from God and she felt his presences and guidance in her life even after he had died in 1999. Mr. Plett worked for Boeing Aircraft and because of his many job transfers, his growing family traveled across country. They lived in Washington State and then settled back in Collinsville, OK to raise their five children. Renetta worked in several places, including Howland Drug Store, It's a Small World Child Care, and even worked for the government for a year when she took census. She was a faithful member of the Collinsville Mennonite Brethren Church and always enjoyed receiving and reading the Mennonite Review from the Kansas Church where she grew up. In 1989 Renetta and Vernon moved on the property of their son and daughter in law, the Centennial farm in Homestead, Oklahoma. Here they faithfully attended the Homestead Bible Church and grew in their faith and commitment where they also made and developed many new friendships. By the Godly example of her life and her relationship with those around her, she taught her children to respect authority, good work ethic and how to have successful lives of their own. She was well known for her quiet strength and constant unconditional love and care for her family. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, of 53 years and a brother Charles. She is survived by five children, Alice Jordan and husband, Larry, Clinton, Elaine Hunter, Fairview, Peggy Cornwell and husband, Stuart, Bixby, OK, Lloyd Plett and wife Cheryl, Ridgecrest, CA and Perry Plett and wife, Jennifer, Homestead, OK; sister, Betty Ratzlaff and husband, Arnold, and sister in law, Dora Unruh, all of Kansas. She is also survived by 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren.
