Richard Sprong

A private memorial service for Richard Sprong, 78, Clinton resident will be held by family members. Richard Lee Sprong was born August 5, 1943, to Edmund James Sprong and Madeline Marie (Talmadge) Sprong in Greenwich, CT and passed away Sunday, January 23, 2022, in the Clinton Alliance Health in Clinton, OK. Richard was raised in Riverside, CT and attended St. Mary’s High School in Greenwich, CT where he was very active in sports and lettered in Baseball and Hockey. He continued his education at the University of Connecticut to receive a master’s degree. He enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in October of 1966 and was stationed at Malmstrom Air Force Base in Great Falls, MT, Carswell Air Force Base in Fort Worth, TX and served a Stent in Korea. He was honorably discharged in 1971 achieving the rank of Captain. He was self-employed as a Certified Financial Planner and has made his homes in Enid, OK in 1976, Thomas, OK in 1979, Weatherford, OK in 1988 and settled in Clinton, OK in 2013. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church and loved to golf and cook. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother Edmund Thomas Sprong. He is survived by three daughters, Samantha Madeline (Sprong) Johnston and husband, Ron, Fort Collins CO, Kristen Lesley (Sprong) Beyer and husband, Jason, Grove, OK and Meredith Drusilla Sprong, Ontario, Canada; sister, Marilyn Talmadge Rogers, Newton, MA; niece, Meghan Suzanne Rogers, MA. He is also survived by his grandchildren Drew Johnston, Will Johnston, Logan Beyer, Gage Beyer, Piper Beyer, Kelsey Baxter, Morgan Baxter and Austin Baxter.
