A Chapel service for Roy R. Dean, 87, Clinton resident will be held 10:00 A.M., Wednesday, November 27, 2013 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Roy Dobbs and burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Roy Richard Dean was born July 31, 1926 to Joseph Frank Dean and Bessie Jo (Brook) Dean in North Little Rock, AR and passed away early Saturday, November 23, 2013 in his Clinton Oklahoma home. Roy was raised in North Little Rock, AR where he also graduated from high school. He started working at the age of 16 on the railroad doing repair work on the #8 engines. He enlisted in the United State Army/Air Force in 1945 in 6th Air Force. He spent most of his time in Panama working with the Chaplain. He was honorably discharged in 1947 at the rank of Corporal. He worked for Sears Department store working on appliances. He later attended an electronic school in Arkansas and then worked for the Federal Aviation Association for several years in Oklahoma City, OK. He loved to learn and go to college, and he accumulated over 150 hours and continued going to college until he was 50 years old. He married Glenda Stambaugh on June 5, 1980 in El Reno. They continued to live in the Oklahoma City area and he retired in 1983. They moved to South, TX where he was involved in construction work. They settled back in Clinton to be close to family and for health issues. He was a member of the First Church of God, he did Missionary work with the Navajo Indians and he was a member of the National Rifle Association. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, Frank, Jr. and brother Joseph Edward Dean. He is survived by his wife, Glenda, of the home, daughters, Tonda O'hair and her husband Delwin, of Corinth, TX and Marilyn Norman, and husband, Lynn of Mustang, OK and three sons, Roy Richard Dean II, from Hawaii, Jim Newcomb, and wife Peggy, Greenwood, AR and John L. Melting, Jr., of Windsor, VA. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
