Funeral services for Ruth Higgins, 71, Hammon resident will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 31, 2019 in the auditorium in the Hammon Public Schools officiated by Rev. Jan Phillips and Rev. Bobby Stewart under the direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. There will be a family visitation 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, May 30, 2019 ion the Kiesau Memorial Chapel. Ruth Cecelia Higgins was born September 20, 1947 to George Little Elk and Mary Etta (Hayes) Little Elk in Clinton, Oklahoma and passed away peacefully in her home Monday May 27, 2019 in Hammon, Oklahoma. Ruth was raised in White Shield Camps North of Hammon. She moved into Hammon when she was 12 years old and attended Hammon School. She Moved to Dallas, Tx and later married William Robert Higgins in Wheeler, Texas. She was a nanny before working for a Meteorologist for a television station. She moved back to Hammon in 1968. She was employed at the Hammon Public Schools in the cafeteria; she worked for the Leedey Nursing Home and the Cheyenne Nursing Home as well as Loves Country Store and Hammon Corner Store. She is a member of the Pentecostal Church; she loves to sew, garden, collecting Knick knacks and going to garage sales. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister, Thelma Little Elk and brother Morgan Little Elk and her adopted parents, Curtis and Bev Page. She is survived by daughters Bridget Higgins, Hammon, OK, Mary Jo White and husband, William, Albuquerque, NM, Lillie Martinez, Mesa, AZ, Jennifer Higgins, Hammon, OK and Lila Kauk and husband, Dane, Clinton; adopted sons, Frank White Skunk, Jr., Towaoc, CO, Moses Santos, Hammon, OK, Donald Miles, Jr., Hammon and adopted daughter, Alisun Little Coyote, Hammon., OK; adopted brother Nick Standingwater of Hammon, OK, nephew, Greg Little Elk. Elk City, OK and Niece Michelle Coker, Yukon, OK. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
