A Memorial Service for Sam Terry, 79, Clinton resident will be held 2:00 P.M.., Friday, January 15, 2016 in the First Church of God, officiated by Rev. Greg Hill and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Samuel Earl Terry, Jr. was born August 1, 1936 to Samuel Earl Terry and Sally (Sink) Terry in Roanoke, VA and passed away Tuesday, January 12, 2016 in the Integris Baptist Hospital in Oklahoma City. Mr. Terry was raised and attended school in Roanoke, VA. At an early age he enlisted in the U.S. Marines and because of his being below the age limit he was discharged from the military until he was of age and then he joined the U.S. Air Force. He had served in Korea as well as Homestead, FL, Greenland, Africa, and in he had served in Burns Flat. While being stationed at Clinton Sherman Air Force Base in Burns Flat he met his bride to be, Betty Black and they were married on October 5, 1957 in Sayre. While in the military his family moved often and settled back in Clinton in 1964. He was employed with TG&Y Stores and had managed the Clinton, Norman, Weatherford and Lawton stores. He also worked several years for Bud Crowl at the Coop Gin, he worked for Stage, C.R. Anthony and United Super Market. For the past several years he was employed with Williams Electric Company as an Apprentice up until his death. He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother, Mike Terry and two sisters, Joanne Wolfe and Doris Hazelip. He was a longtime active and faithful member of the First Church of God, he served on numerus committees and served as Deacon for several years; he loved the outdoors, working in the yard, mowing lawns and digging in the dirt. He was a member of the American Legion. He loved riding his bike and could be seen all over western Oklahoma riding. He rode in the "Hotter than Hell" bicycle ride in Wichita Falls, TX for over 20 years. He accomplished the 100 mile ride, often rode the 50 mile ride and some years at the very least 25 miles. He is survived by his wife Betty, of the home, two sons, Rick Terry and wife, Paula, and Chris Terry and wife, Tammy, all of Clinton; four grandchildren, Tayler Terry, Shyla Wilhite and husband, Randall, Harlee Terry, and Chase Terry; two great-grandchildren, Hannah Wilhite and Slade Wilhite.
