Sammie Ray Hendricks was born November 14, 1950 to Louis and Virginia (Evans) Hendricks in Amarillo, Texas and passed away Wednesday, December 4, 2019 in the Clinton Alliance Health. Sammie “Ape” as he was known by family and close friends and also known as “PAPA” by many others started his young life in Amarillo, TX and he moved with his family to Clinton when he was nine years old. He attended Clinton Schools, graduating in 1970. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1970 and served a term in Vietnam and became a jet mechanic. He married Robin Stine in 1972. He worked for the Clinton Veterans Center and he had a postal service route. He later worked for the Clinton Public Schools as custodian and bus driver. He also worked for WILCO Manufacturing Company. He later married Janet Dilocker on January 23, 2000 in Arapaho. He was of the Baptist faith; he enjoyed fishing, Oklahoma University Football and watching the Steelers; he loved nature and being in the outdoors; working in his yard; playing board games and being with the grandkids and playing cat and squirrel; he could be seen almost every day at McDonalds getting a breakfast burrito. He was preceded in death by his father, sister, Lillian Giblet, brother, Buddy Hendricks and son, Brannon. He is survived by his wife, Janet of the home, three daughters, Shawna Ryan and husband Tommy, El Paso, TX, Pazlie Counts and husband, Buddy, Virginia Beach, FL and April Heath and husband, Carey, Rocky, OK; three sons, Shannon Hendricks, Weatherford, Lundy Helton and wife, Leslie, Fort Worth, TX and Les Helton and Tiffany, East Pointe, MI; his mother, Virginia Hendricks, Cordell; sisters Gingie Quail and husband, David, Vickie Hendricks, Rebecca Hendricks and Angie Hendricks, all of Cordell; brothers, Ronnie Hendricks and Kenneth Goree, both of Bessie and a sister in law, (Mrs. Buddy) Peggy Hendricks, Bessie. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren, Zane, Savannah, Kavyn, Brannon, Alexis, Kayleigh, Keeton, Karther, Jett, Koda, Betty, Kyson, Sutton and Treasure.
