Graveside services for Sandra Powell, 79, Edmond resident and formerly of Guymon, OK, will be held 2:00 P.M., Friday, February 28, 2020 at the Arapaho Cemetery officiated by Doyle Kinney and Bill Snow and under the direction of the Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Sandra L. (Snow) Powell was born October 8, 1940 to Marvin and Estelle (Roark) Snow in Amarillo, TX and passed away Monday, February 24, 2020 in the St. Anthony Hospital in Oklahoma City, OK. Sandy, as she was known by family and friends, was raised in Amarillo, TX and Denver, CO. She graduated from Denver High School in 1958 and continued her education at Denver University. While living in Amarillo, TX, she met the love of her life, Ted Powell, on a blind date. They were married April 23, 1960 and made their home in Guymon, OK. Along with her husband, they farmed and ranched for several years. She owned and operated Panhandle Travel Agency for 14 years. She loved to travel and go to the Mountains. She was able to travel in over 39 foreign countries. She has made her home in Edmond for the past 14 years. She was very active in her community, church and civically. She held multiple offices in local and state Extension Homemakers and was named Northwest District Homemaker of the Year and Texas County Homemaker of the Year in 1985. She served as president of the Oklahoma State Association of Fairs, as a member of the Oklahoma Governor’s Energy Commission where she represented the State of Oklahoma at White Sands, on the Oklahoma State University Advisory Council for three terms, and on the Executive Board for the Guymon Chamber of Commerce. She was instrumental in starting the Arts and Humanities Council in Texas County, cooked and delivered for Meals on Wheels, received national and international recognition as travel agent and was recruited by the Canadian Tourist Board. She was an active and faithful member of the New Covenant Christian Church, in Edmond and had been active in her church in Guymon; she was an avid Bible reader and loved teaching her ladies’ Bible classes. She was preceded in death by her parents and son, Kent Powell. She is survived by her husband, Ted of the home, two daughters, Debbie Crump and husband, David, Owasso, OK and Stacy McMahan and husband, Jerry, Edina, MN, daughter in law, Mrs. Kent (Tamara) Powell, Clinton, OK; sister Judy Bahn and husband Mike, Amarillo, TX and brother Bill Snow and wife, Nancy, of Leander, TX. She is also survived by seven grandchildren Zac Crump and wife Kayla, Kate McMahan, Molly McPhillips and husband, Tyler, Brandon Crump, Olivia Morgan and husband, Nathan, Holden Powell and Hudson Powell.
