A Chapel Service for Sara "Sallie" (Calmes) Thompson, 79, former Clinton resident, now of Borger, Texas will be held 11:00 AM, Friday, December 26, 2014 in the Kiesau Memorial Chapel, officiated by Rev. Carol Waters. Burial will follow in the Clinton Cemetery under direction of Kiesau-Lee Funeral Home. Sara Lou June "Sallie" (Calmes) Thompson was born June 3, 1935 to Chester J. and Laura (Davis) Calmes in Clinton, Oklahoma and she passed into her heavenly home Monday, December 22, 2014 surrounded by her family in her Borger, TX home. She was raised in Clinton, Oklahoma and graduated from Clinton High School in 1953 and also attended Oklahoma A&M. She was married to a home town boy, Don Thompson, on September 19, 1954. To this union they were blessed with four daughters. Sallie was a long time faithful member of the First Presbyterian Church in Clinton and regularly attended First Presbyterian Church in Borger, TX. She babysat for almost 20 years, caring for many Borger babies and toddlers. She had a passion for gardening and grew beautiful roses and always had a large vegetable garden. She was a 50+ year volunteer for the Girl Scouts, having held multiple positions. She is preceded in death by her parents and brothers John Paul Calmes and Jim Calmes. She is survived by her husband of over 60 years, Don of the home; four daughters, Debbie Winegar and husband, Robert of Midland, TX, Carla Thompson of Jacksonville, FL, Gayla Cox and husband, Buddy of Dumas, TX and Angela Kaplan and husband John of Borger, TX. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Scott Winegar of San Antonio, TX, Trey Cox and wife Haley, of Shawnee, OK, Casey Winegar of Lubbock, TX, Bradley Cox and wife, Kassie of Temple, TX, Zachery Kaplan of Amarillo, TX, Courtney Kaplan of Dallas, TX and Hannah Kaplan of Austin, TX; one great grandchild, Camden Cox of Shawnee, OK, and several nieces and nephews. The family has suggested those wanting to give memorials may be made to the Girl Scouts of TOP, Camp Kiwanis Fund, 6011 SE 45th Amarillo, TX 79109 or The Harrington Cancer Center, Olivia's Angels 1500 Wallace Blvd, Amarillo, TX 79106; or to your favorite charity.
